2011 FIELD TRIPS & GET-TOGETHERS
Port Vincent Weekend Away
Written by Lisa Menon
Friday 15th July, eight of your fellow camera club colleagues up'd anchor and left for Pt Vincent, some bumping into each other at Pt Wakefield for refreshments.
We arrived early afternoon unpacked and got straight into the fun.
The weekend started with watching Paul and his friend Klaus get ready to scuba dive at Edithburgh, then the rest of us set off for local interesting sites so Helen would have something to climb on!! Luckily the wind farm was too tall for her to get up...
We found a beautiful old homestead which we spent some time at and got some great shots through windows, old rustic doors and surrounds. Plenty of rainbows blessed our day with the rain and sunshine that we encountered.

Back to the house we got the BBQ out and bottles of cordial opened??!! A wonderful assortment of salads and nibbles were put together and we enjoyed the early evening looking at and editing the photos of the day., every thing cleared away we had a few games of twister, now that was hilarious!!!! Then we headed to the beach for a late night walk and ended up at the local pub where we put the locals to shame as our group beat the pants off them at pool. We fed the juke box had a few beverages and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, being told if we hadn't shown up the pub would have closed 3 hours earlier. Some of us sat up late and chatted and had a few night caps before calling it a day back at our home for the weekend.
Saturday arrived we all fought for the shower, and breakfast was cooked on the BBQ by master chef Quentin! The underwater Mafia left for their chosen destination, once brekkie was done, while the rest of us enjoyed the sights and photographic opportunities above water around the copper triangle, making sure we had a Cornish pasty for lunch. Many Km's were travelled with much joking and fun had. We were blessed with great weather considering what time of year it was.
We all went to the local pub for dinner that night, nothing better than country food, generous serves, accompanied by great champagne and friendly banter around the table.
The locals were eager for us to play pool again so we obliged, they were dragging their tales by the time el presidente’ and his gang whooped their bums again. Needless to say everyone, including the locals had a great time together and we look forward to meeting them again next year. There was only one pesky cat called Tom, if i remember.. we had to shoo him away!!??
Back at the house more beverages and fun around the table knowing it was the last night together.
Up early Sunday the big clean up done and long beach walk had; with smiles on our faces and wonderful memories in our hearts off home we set, it was a great weekend enjoyed by all who attended and thank you to Paul for organising it. Bring on next year!!
